This is the Delaware County Newscast. I'm Andrew Cantor. Vandals have once again damaged the public restrooms in Sydney's Keith Clark Park. The village just happens to have hired a new full-time police officer though, so maybe that'll help stop this nonsense. And so might the new security cameras that were installed last week. And you know, this is it's just pathetic. These people go home and tell their friends, hurr, I just messed up a public bathroom in the park. I mean, it's sad. Anyway, while we're in Sydney, the village's new well and $9 million water project are a hair's breadth from being completed, then delivering fresh, clean water to residents that they can complain about on Facebook. It took almost two years, but Margaretville trustees have finally passed a law to regulate food trucks in the village so people can get funky cuisine during events without hurting local businesses. Basically, a food truck operator has to make a deal with a property owner in a commercial zone to set up there. Then the property owner applies for a permit with the village's code enforcement officer and pays a one-time fee of 25 bucks, and that is a permanent fee, uh covers as long as the vendor well, as long as the vendor comes back at least once a year. Oh, and someone has to be with the truck anytime it's parked in the village. There are some more details, but that is the gist, and it only took about two years. If you're in Delhi, hope you're not too attached to Little Sheldon Park. After trying and failing to find an existing building to house its municipal office complex, Delhi officials have decided that Sheldon Park is probably the best location to build a new modern facility, one that's not, you know, fallen apart. This is still in the early stages, though. We're talking conceptual plans and preliminary cost estimates. Then the village will start looking for grants, and then at some point, trustees will decide whether to turn the green park into an office park. Mark your calendars. On August 12th, we'll be getting another solar eclipse. It won't be a total eclipse, it'll be enough of one, though, that you'll see the planet's shadow across the sun, reminding us that yes, the earth is round. And now a couple of shout-outs. First, a double one to the Sydney Federal Credit Union, which is giving 250 grand to sponsor a primary care wing at Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton. And it's giving 50 grand to Delaware opportunities to support food pantries in the county. And second, congrats to the city of Binghamton, which went the first six months of the year without a gun related murder.
unknownHooray!
